Ikki's parents died when he was little, leaving him to be taken in by the Noyamano family. The families had been close and the Noyamano family had a daughter Ikki's age. Ikki constantly got himself into trouble growing up. He was always chasing after rainbows, but never able to actually touch them, wanting no one else to have them. Eventually, Ikki started getting into fights, wanting to prove himself more able than anyone. While Ikki was still young, he climbed up a tower. There was attempts to rescue him but he bit the man and fell. Ikki was somehow saved by a large bird resembling a crow. This dubbed him a Child of the Wind. Later on, Ikki could usually be found, sitting high in the bleachers, watching a girl he nicknamed his "Sparrow" ride AirTreks, grinding off the fence. When Ikki reached thirteen he stole his older sister's AirTreks and discovered a love and passion that he never dreamed of feeling. He could fly. Eventually, he formed a Storm Rider Team with his two best friends and began his journey on the Hurricane Road.
